2008 RSB School Year Registration

Registration is open in all levels Fairy Tale Dance-Senior throughout the month of February.

A $15.00 one-time non-refundable Family Registration is required to register for the 2008 school year.
  All students wishing to join our Pre-Professional Programs (8 years and above) must take a placement class.

RSB offers lessons for ages 3 & up including Fairy Tale Dance, Ballet, Pointe, Classical Variations, Modern and Repertory.  Performance opportunites are available through our non-profit performing ensemble the Royal Youth Ballet Company (RYBC).  Every student age 8 and above will have the opportunity to audition for RYBC's performance opportunities. 

Younger RSB
(5-7years) students have the opportunity to perform in in twice yearly RYBC performances.

   Please see below for a description of our divisions. 
  Fairy Tale Dance will be offered again for ages 3-4years.  This pre-school program will introduce the young dancer to the storybook ballets.  Props, acting and an introduction to dance are the objectives. 

Children'a Program Ballet I ,Ballet IIA & llB  for ages 5-8years.
  These programs offer an introduction to the standard ballet syllabus, proper strechning techniques and lots of fun!  These levels have the opportunity of participating in yearly RYBC productions such as Nutcracker.

Pre-professional Divisons Ballet III/IV, Junior and Senior 
for ages 8 and above.
This track provides pre-professional dance training including lessons in Floor Barre, Ballet Technique, Pre-Pointe, Pointe, and Modern.   A placement class is required in these levels for all incoming students.  The placement class is designed to see where each student best fits into the levels offered.  All students in this level have the opportunity to audition for RYBC & RYBC II.
*All students wishing to join our Pre-professional Divisions are required to take a placement class.

2007 RSB Summer Ballet Program Highlights!

More summer pictures at 2007 Summer Ballet Program

RSB's 2007 annual Summer Ballet Program concluded on July 27th.   RSB welcomed students from Elite Dance Academy, Emjaez Dance Studio in Bay Village, Mary Kay Manning, Dance By Gloria's, the University of Akron Dance Program and the Ohio Youth Ballet in addition to our RSB students.  Students studied with top instructors from around the area.  These included:  Mary Jo Rimke, Kenya Woods Cooper, Ana Lobe, Joanne Hughes Morscher, Mac Dang, Kim Wasielewski. Jenni Nalette and Leanne Wadenpfuhl.
This summer also saw the return of Renee Rossi to the RSB Staff. Yeah!!
RSB summer students learned the RYBC Repertory numbers such as
the award winning  "Handel Suites," and the Ava Maria.
 Ms. Ana Lobe set Variations from Flower Festival, Swan Lake and Sleeping Beauty and Mac Dang, from Dancing Wheels set a Modern Repertory number. Many of these pieces were presented during Parent Observation July 23rd-July 27th.

2007 RYBC Pasta A Success!
Over 200 guests enjoyed a lovely Italian dinner, Raffled Prizes and a performance by
NorthEast Ohio's premier performing group, the Royal Youth Ballet Company on Friday October 12th @ Royal Redeemer Church in North Royalton, Ohio. Kudos to Renee M. Rossi on her first performance as Interim RYBC Artistic Director and Leanne Wadenpfuhl, RSB Interim School Director for all her help.
This event was co-hosted by Eileen Brodowski (Event Planner) & Chris Rees (Chef) and
 was made possible by Santosousso's Italian Restaurant, Giant Eagle Supermarkets, Zannoni's, Orlando Bread, Field Fresh, Filippa's Dolceria for her authentic Italian bakery, Royal Redeemer and the RYBC Parents including: Christine Polisena, Deb Von Enck, Laura Kelbley, Melissa Hammitt, Becky & Bob McAlindon, Terri Ambrose, Jill Nickell, Joe Nicklos, Ben & Aaron Schuster, Dave Brodowski, Tim Rees, Marcie Hoffman, Donna Bonvissuto & her Mom.
The event raised over 2400.00 to help support the 2007-2008 season.

November 30th -December 1st
2007 Winter Repertory Concert
Renee Rossi delivered a wonderful performance as the RYBC Interim Artistic Director. She re-staged excerpts from "The Nutcracker Ballet", as wellas rehearsing an entire Act I Repertory.  Audiences showed their appreciation with standing ovations after each performance.

December 15th, 2007
2007 RYBC Pancake Breakfast with Santa and the Sugar Plum Fairy
RYBC netted over $1000.00 in this event.  Santa Claus & the Sugar Plum Fairy were on-hand to take pcitures, the RYBC Dad's & Board Members cooked breakfast.  Everyone had a wonderful morning. Kudos to Becky McAlindon, Chairperson of this event!!!!

Wings with Strings 2008
  was held @ The Morschers on Saturday Febraury 23rd from 6:00-11:00pm.  Approximately $3000.00 was raised to
benefit RYBC.  Over 30 people enjoyed Arnie Morschers famous Buffalo Chicken Wings & dark German Beer.  Participants got a first hand look @ some of RYBC's costuming.

2007 Honey Baked Ham Fundraisor
Coordinated by RYBC Board Member Donna Bonvissuto this unique fundraisor netted 371.95 for the RYBC Season. Please complete you revealuation from of this event.  RYBC would like to make this a yearly event.

2007 RYBC Spring Repertory Concert Ad Campaign
Coordinated by RYBC Parent, Marcie Hoffman this year's campaign netted 1206.00
Local Busineses, Personal Ads were very generous in their giving.  A complete list of advertisers will be posted.

2007 Garage Sale
Judy Vitello held a RYBC Garage Sale on June 10th at her home and raised $160.00 for the company.  Nicole & Claire Von Enck helped out fellow RYBC Company member Jessica Havran and her Mother, Judy throuhgout the day.  Our warmest thanks & appreciation for this fundraisor, and to those who donated.

2007 Summer Car Washes
2007 Car Washes raised $1521.50, which exceeded our budget fpr this event. Our warmest thanks to all those who participated especially our Parent Volunteers and  the Car Wash Chairperson, Joe Nicklos.. 

 

RYBC 2007 Performing Season

North East Ohio Dance Festival March 17th,  2007
Twelve dancers from RYBC participated in workshop classes on Saturday March 17th @ the 2007 NorthEast Ohio Dance Festival held on the Cuyahoga Community College East Campus.  The day long festival culminated in a performance of all the participants.  RYBC performed
"Diamonds" a contemporary work given to RSB in 1998 by David Strobbe, formerly of Clevelnd San Jose Ballet. 
RYBC brought this dynamic work back for the 2006-2007 Season.

RYBC's 2007 Spring Repertory Concert
May 5th and 6th, 2007
Dan Calabrese Performing Arts Center at NRHS.
RYBC 's 2007 Spring Concert was a huge success! The company received standing ovations after each performance.
RYBC premiered 3 new works & re-staged 2 others.  Ms. Kenya Woods Cooper and Ms. Ana Lobe were this season's Guest Choreographers.  RYBC dancers were showcased in an entire European program with works set to music by Strauss, Handel, Kraftwerks, Unknown German Artists and Edvard
Helsted.  RYBC presented "Excerpts from Napoli,"originally choreographed by August Bournonville and re-staged for RYBC by Ms. Ana Lobe.  Mac Dang, from Dancing Wheels guested once again with RYBC, dancing in "Napoli".

 My thanks to all RYBC supporters and the RYBC Board of Directors who made this concert and season possible.

  In the News!

Theresa Bonvissuto,
RSB 2006 Alumna and RYBC Company Member was offered an Apprentice Contract with Lake Erie Ballet in Erie, PA.  Theresa will continue with her post-secondary education @ Mercyhurst College as a sophmore majoring in Dance the Performance Track. Update! Theresa enjoyed casting in her first Musical Theater production called  "Seussical - Musical."  She was cast as a "Who" and danced in nearly every scene.
More on Theresa!  She was cast in 2 pieces in Mercyhurst's February concert "Raw Edges."

Rebecca Nicklos,
RSB 2005 Alumna & one of the original RYBC Company Members has been auditioning for jobs as she will graduate from the Nutmeg Conservatory in May 2007.  Rebecca was offered an Apprentice Contract with MOMIX, a contemporary touring company in Connecticut which she has accepted.  She was also offered summer study with Alonso Kings Lines Ballet Company in San Francisco. 
Rebecca is teaching in the area and will join the RSB Staff March 2008.


Alison Morey, RSB 2002 Alumna & RSB Support Faculty received a job offer from Jennifer Muller-The Works contempoaray dance company in NYC.  Upon graduation from the University of Akron in May 2007
 Alison will head off to NYC.  Congratulations to Alison!
Alison has joined the RSB Staff March 2008

  Jenni Nalette, RSB 2001 Alumna and 2006 RSB Summer faculty traveled to Korea in July with her contemporary company, the Azaguno African Dance Company.   This season Jenni continues to dance with her company and teachs jazz, ballet, an African Carribean dance classes in the community. She will join the RSB Staff April 2008.

Jill Laub,
RSB 2003 Alumna, cover of the April 2006 Blueize Magazine,   Broadway Dance Center Scholarship graduate and current student @ Fordham University.  Jill will return to RSB/RYBC in October set RYBC's signature Jazz number, originally created fo rher ny Mary Jo Rimke "All I Want for Christmas" on Nicole Von Enck for the 2007 Winter Repertory Concert

*Jill graduated from Fordham University the weekend of May 19th-20th, 2007.  Jill is to embark on a month long trip to Italy.  She will be taking some dance classes while she is traveling.  Jill has re-located to Los Angeles to pursue a dance career.  Will keep you updated on her success!

Anna Li,
RSB 2006 Alumna and former RYBC Company Member  is a Semi-Finalist in the National Merit Scholarship.  This prestigious academic honor is granted only to the top 1% of high school students. Anna is a freshman student @ Carnegie Mellon in Pittsbugh, PA. Anna is planning on keeping her dance current by taking classes whenever she can inthe Pittsburgh area.  Anna was in the  RSB Studios taking class from Mrs. Morscher in May 2007. 
She will be back @ RSB for Summer Study.

American Ballet Theatre Pictures of "Le Corsaire"

RSB Senior A/B & JuniorA/B students, as well as RYBC Company Members danced with  American Ballet Theatre in this company's performance of "Le Corsaire" @ the State Theatre in Playhouse Square March 16-19, 2006.













Kelly Korfhage RSB Senior C, all RYBC Company Members are also members of the North Royalton Royalettes under the direction of Karen Zingale.  The Royalettes, is the North Royalton High School Dance team performs @ high school football & basketball games.  The Royalettes also participate in many competitions, festivals and band concerts throughout the season.

Mallory King, RSB Senior B & RYBC Member will perform in her high school musical's "Pajama Game" April 17th-April 19th.  Congratulations.

Allison Bonvisuto, RSB Senuor B & RYBC Company Member was selected for Captain of the  2008-2009 Color Guard (flag team) based on her combined tryout points.  Color Guard is a part of the Marching Band at Padua.  This is Allison's third year as a Color Guard member, and as Captain, she will be responsible for choreographing the Color Guard  flag routines for home and away football games this fall.


Georgia Marie Hunt

9 yr.old niece of Mrs. Morscher contiunes with her ballet studies this season.  She will be performing in 2 Nutcracker productions this season.  Her own studio's performance on December 1st and 2nd, and in the "Russian Scene" in the Moscow Ballet's Nutcracker on December 9th and 10th in Charleston, SC. 

Update on Georgia!  Georgia performed in her company's ballet production on Saturday May 3rd, 2008.

Georgia is a member of her performing company and studies three times a week.



Recommended Podiatrist (Foot Doctor) for RSB/RYBC is  Jennifer A. Rossi, DPM.  A dancer's foot is a most important part of his/her training.  If  you are experiencing any type of foot issue (think bruised toenails etc..) Dr. Rossi is the person to call.  If you are wondering ...yes, she is Renee Rossi's (former RSB Faculty) sister.
